Tom Brett




Tom Brett has practiced, as a specialist, in both the regulatory and transactional aspects of energy law for the last twenty five years.  He has appeared frequently before the Ontario Energy Board and the National Energy Board, and has drafted and negotiated gas and electricity, renewables, demand response and energy efficiency performance contracts, and establish First Nations transmission and generation joint ventures.  He has also held senior positions in the energy ministry of the federal government (where he co-led a group responsible for renewable energy and efficiency), in the energy business, and as a banker specializing in energy project and corporate work.  He has recently advised First Nations in the formation of a transmission utility and on a large hydro-electric project.  He has advised governments in Canada, the United States, Poland, and Thailand on energy projects.
