Lauren is Kanien’keha:ka (Mohawk) and settler identified with her roots in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Lauren dedicated her academic career to learning Canadian Law and dedicates her lifelong educational journey to learning and experiencing the laws of Indigenous peoples. In her work, Lauren strives to act in accordance with the philosophies of the Kayanereh’kowa (The Great Law of Peace); Sken:nen (Peace), Kanikonriio (Good Mind), and Kasatshensera (Strength).
Onkwehon:we (Indigenous peoples) who know Lauren have described her to be “loud in her spirit.” Lauren takes her time to listen, hear and feel what is being put forward before using her voice and her spirit to advocate for Indigenous peoples.
Lauren received her BA from Queen’s University in 2017 and her JD from Queen’s University in 2020. In 2017 Lauren received the Agnes Benedickson Tricolour Award for her service to the Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities at Queen’s.
Lauren received her certificate in Mediation from MDR Associations Conflict Resolution Inc. in August 2019. Lauren also received her certificate in Conflict Management and Communication from the Canadian Centre for Conflict Management in January 2019.
