At Fogler, Rubinoff, we believe that making a difference begins with trust. Experience and sound judgment earn it. Client relationships are built on it. Results keep it.

Businesses large and small, municipalities, First Nations, individuals and governments increasingly find themselves part of a highly complex environmental law regime designed to protect the natural environment, property and human health. We assist our clients to navigate this regime and achieve their objectives.

Our Environmental team consists of three environmental lawyers in our Toronto offices and a number of additional lawyers in our municipal, real estate, corporate and litigation departments experienced with the environmental aspects of their practice areas.

Our Environmental team has carried out major engagements with municipalities, energy proponents, small to medium sized companies, mining companies, First Nations, public interest groups, and residents.

Our Environmental lawyers have been counsel in precedent setting litigation before courts and tribunals.

Key areas of our environmental expertise include:

  • environmental litigation (defence of MOECC prosecutions, ERT hearings and civil actions)
  • brownfields redevelopment and contaminated sites
  • assessments, approvals and permitting

We also act in legislative and policy development for municipalities, federal and provincial governments and agencies. Municipalities have new breadth of authority to deal with environmental issues. We advise and assist municipalities with exercising this authority. Federal and Provincial authorities have retained us to provide assistance on environmental assessment reform and drafting regulations.
