Fogler Rubinoff LLP congratulates Matthew Norris on being a recipient of the 2018 Lexpert Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 Award. 

This honour is given to lawyers under the age 40 who have an outstanding track record of success in their field, are recognized leaders in the community, and are contributors to their firm’s success. They are nominated by their peers as being at the top of their game in leadership, professional achievements, business acumen, adaptability, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Matt is a Partner in the firm’s Business Law Group. His practice focuses on assisting businesses on broad range of corporate, commercial and business matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, financing transactions and corporate structuring and restructurings.

In addition to his transactional practice, Matt regularly advises a wide range of clients, from start-ups to institutional clients, on day to day corporate and commercial matters impacting their business.  Matt helps business owners with all aspects of their shareholder and partnership arrangements, including buy/sell arrangements and succession planning. Matt often works with entrepreneurial clients in helping them establish, grow, operate and organize their businesses.

Matt received this prestigious recognition during the Lexpert Rising Stars Awards Gala on November 8th in Toronto. Congratulations to Matt on this well-deserved distinction.

The Rising Stars competition showcases Canadian lawyers that have an outstanding track record of success with complex transactions, contributed to their communities and profession and demonstrated leadership within their law departments.  Finalists were also selected for being team players, who demonstrated business acumen and adaptability to change.

Justin Jakubiak has been recognized as a Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation. Justin is one of 285 litigators recognized by the LSO with this designation. 

David Levangie has been honoured with the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Social Sciences’ Outstanding Alumni Award for his exceptional contributions to the community.

The Faculty of Social Sciences’ Outstanding Alumni Award is presented annually in recognition of exceptional contributions to the community. The purpose of the award is to recognize Faculty alumni who have enhanced the reputation of their academic unit, of the Faculty and of the University through their outstanding career, public service, community service or academic achievements. The Faculty wishes to demonstrate the pride it has in its alumni all the while providing inspiration to other alumni as well as to current students.
