Litigation Law Clerk Job Description:
Our firm has an opening for a Litigation Law Clerk in our Indigenous Practice Group. This position will require a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities. The successful candidate will be professional, organized, discreet, and detail oriented. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of legal and administrative duties while coordinating and assisting lawyers with assigned matters;
- Drafts, serves, and files pleadings, applications, affidavits, correspondence and other documents as required throughout the conduct of the file;
- Assembles and codes discovery and disclosure materials;
- Reviews transcripts and prepares lists of undertakings and refusals;
- Database management, including searching and organization of data in electronic format;
- Enters dockets on a timely basis following prescribed firm and departmental procedures;
- Establishes and manages direct client relationships; and
- Proactively identifies issues and recommends solutions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in indigenous law and/or litigation would be considered an asset;
- Completion of Law Clerk Program recognized by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO);
- A member in good standing with ILCO;
- Thorough knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, legal documentation and terminology;
- Superior administrative, organizational and time management skills;
- Superior computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Outlook, and Litigation support software support;
- Superior written and oral communication skills;
- Superior research and problem-solving skills;
- Detail oriented, hardworking and self-motivated;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision from lawyer and possesses a team player attitude; and
- Professional demeanor with the ability to interact and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels.

Real Estate Law Clerk Job Description:
Our firm has an immediate opening for a Real Estate Law Clerk. This position will divide their time between two areas within our busy Real Estate Department: Mortgage Enforcement and CHIP Reverse Mortgage. The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 5 years real estate experience, both residential and commercial, and have experience in mortgage enforcement. The successful candidate will be organized, discreet, and detail oriented. This position will require someone to work independently and as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the management of power of sale files;
- Preparation of demand letters, default judgment, motion records and writs of possession, discharge statements, and other related documents;
- Ensure that client is updated in systems in a timely manner;
- Preparing and sending document requests to client as required;
- Review file and escalate concerns to senior law clerk or lawyer;
- Use Teraview to complete searches, document preparation and registration;
- Identify title problems and appropriate corrective measures required to clear title; and
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Real Estate Law Clerk, both residential and commercial, and have experience in mortgage enforcement;
- Completion of law clerk program recognized by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario;
- A Member in good standing with the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario;
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the power of sale process in Ontario;
- Superior administrative, organizational and time management skills;
- Superior computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Outlook,
- Extensive knowledge of Teraview (including searching, document preparation and registration);
- Superior written and oral communication skills;
- Superior research and problem solving skills;
- Detail oriented, hardworking and self-motivated;
