Jonathan is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. He maintains a practice focused on administrative and regulatory litigation, licensing matters, provincial offences, and commercial litigation.

Jonathan regularly represents businesses and licensed professionals in regulatory proceedings before administrative bodies and tribunals, including the Licence Appeal Tribunal, and appears for clients in Provincial Offences Act proceedings before the Ontario Court of Justice, as well as matters before the Superior Court of Justice and appellate courts.

Jonathan has particular experience advising and representing motor vehicle dealers and industry stakeholders in licensing and compliance matters. He additionally acts for a wide range of regulated professionals and businesses, including driving schools, liquor licensees, cannabis operators, and real estate professionals.

His regulatory experience includes matters arising under, among others, the:

  • Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, 2002
  • Highway Traffic Act
  • Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019
  • Provincial Offences Act
  • Cannabis Licence Act, 2018 and the federal Cannabis Act
  • Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002

In addition to his regulatory practice, Jonathan maintains a commercial litigation practice, representing clients in contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, and other civil matters.

Jonathan understands that regulatory proceedings and litigation can have significant operational and reputational consequences. His approach is to provide clients with the most effective and least disruptive services possible.
