Justin has appeared before all levels of Court in Ontario and appears regularly before the Licence Appeal Tribunal (“LAT“). Before LAT, Justin has had significant success representing automotive dealerships, salespersons, motor vehicle inspection stations and their mechanics with respect to a wide variety of licensing and registration issues. Justin has also successfully represented livery operators before the Ontario Highway Transport Board.
Justin is a go-to lawyer for issues and questions relating to the following Ontario legislation:
In addition to providing litigation support, Justin regularly assists clients in obtaining and maintaining their professional licences. Justin’s attention to detail, combined with his good working relationship with many licencing bodies, allows him to assist clients in obtaining efficient and quality results. Often, delays in obtaining a licence or registration are due to an applicant not being aware of the correct way to answer certain inquiries, or not knowing what information will be required of them during the licencing process. Justin’s experience minimizes delay and increases an applicant’s chances of success.
As a result of Justin’s regular appearances before LAT, in February 2013 Justin was one of five Applicant Representatives invited by LAT’s Chair to join the newly established LAT Consultive Committee. Justin assists the Committee in establishing new practices and procedures to make LAT more responsive and user friendly.
Justin is one of only a few lawyers in Ontario with a specialized focus on Dealership Law. Justin’s extensive experience allows him to assist dealerships, salespersons and mechanics with all matters involving the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Environment.
Justin is one of a handful of lawyers with experience assisting clients with Ontario’s cannabis licencing regime. Justin assists clients applying to the AGCO for, and to maintain, licences relating to the retail sale of recreational cannabis, including Retail Operator Licences, Retail Store Authorizations, and Cannabis Retail Manager Licences. Justin has also represented clients before the LAT on some of the first matters to be heard under the Cannabis Licence Act, and has assisted the Tribunal in navigating this new legislation.
With a client centered approach, Justin is dedicated to providing effective, efficient and practical legal representation. Justin takes care in canvassing with his clients the best opportunities and strategies available to ensure great results.
